LOCATION:

Hungary (Budapest, Eastern-Hungary)

AREA OF WORK:

Making community creation and performing arts accessible to the most marginalised sections of society.

TYPE OF PARTNERSHIP:

Members of UtcaSZAK are local educators, performers, mentors and artists from different fields.

TYPE OF ACTIONS IMPLEMENTED:

UtcaSZAK is a collaboration between artists and teachers. The two main forms of their work are the creation of professional and applied theatre performances, and the implementation of mentoring programmes in disadvantaged communities or closed institutions – skills and capacity building mentoring programmes using theatre/performing arts and drama education. They are looking at old and new ways of reaching out to those who, for a variety of reasons, do not benefit from the enlivening effects of live performing arts, of collective play.

LEVEL OF COOPERATION AMONG ACTORS INVOLVED:

UtcaSZAK is a collaboration between artists and teachers, who are working with disadvantaged communities mainly Roma children.

WHAT INSPIRES US?:

The UtcaSzak organisation is inspiring for us because they can build a very personal relationship with Roma young people and can greatly help their professional development.
